Wuhan Opens Asia's Longest Subway Loop

The Wuhan Rail Transit Line 12 officially commenced operations on May 1. The line traverses four districts: Jianghan, Qiaokou, Hanyang, and Wuchang, crossing the Yangtze River and Shahuo. The project is described as the longest metro loop in Asia. The line is intended to facilitate travel for residents along its route. The line crosses the Yangtze River and passes through the Sha Lake area, traversing the Qingshan, Wuchang, Hongshan, and Hanyang districts. The 35.32-kilometer line runs from Gangdu Huayuan Station in the north to Moshuihu Park Station in the south. The route connects major transport hubs including Wuchang Railway Station and the Central China Financial City. According to Luo Chongyao, party branch secretary for the China Railway 16th Bureau Group 108 Xin'an Expressway project, the line is a livelihood project.
