EU Mandates USB-C For Laptops
All new laptops sold in France must be equipped with USB-C ports starting today. A grace period for laptops expired on this date. This regulatory shift follows an EU directive that previously led to a dispute with Apple. Starting today, consumers in the European Union can only purchase laptops equipped with USB-C ports. The report notes that a single charger may not be suitable for all devices as laptops require higher wattage than mobile phones.
