Italian Football Investigation Reaches Guardia di Finanza
The prosecutor of a city has brought charges against the head of officiating for the Italian Football Federation's Serie A. The investigation involves allegations of a corruption scheme related to match officiating. If suspicions are confirmed, Inter Milan could face the loss of their championship title. Prosecutors in Milan have charged John Luigi Rocchi, the head of refereeing for the Italian Football Federation, with misconduct. He is accused of appointing refereeing crews to matches that allegedly favored Inter Milan. Rocchi has temporarily suspended himself from his duties to avoid interfering with the investigation. Former referee designer Rocchi was summoned but did not appear for questioning. VAR supervisor Gervasoni attended the session and denied allegations regarding interference during a Serie B match.
