Sofia Velikaya Wins Sabre Tournament

Two-time Olympic champion Sofia Velikaya won a sabre fencing tournament in Magnitogorsk on April 25. The victory occurred during the competition held in Russia. The broadcast also noted results in the men's bracket where Karan Hochanov defeated Australian Adam Walton. In hockey, Akbars Kazan defeated Metallurg 5-2 in the first match of the Gagarin Cup semifinals. Metallurg replaced goalkeeper Alexander Smolin with Ilya Nabokov after conceding a third goal. The second semifinal match is scheduled for April 27 in Magnitogorsk. Velikaya defeated Kazakhim in the final match. Kazakhim secured the runner-up position after defeating Kirill Shapovalov.
