Marathon Runner Breaks World Record
Ethiopian athlete Kejelcha finished the marathon in 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 41 seconds. Ethiopian runner Etíopix Veló won the women's marathon. In the same race, María José Calfilaf of Chile finished in fourth place. Alejandro Aliana of Peru and Belén Caseta of Argentina won the 21-kilometer race, while Daniela Moya and Diego Uribe of Chile won the 10-kilometer race. Jumif Kijelcha of Ethiopia also achieved this milestone. Sabel ran on a circular track with pacers providing a consistent tempo and drafting, and the race was scheduled for optimal weather conditions. The course was noted for its numerous curves, which typically reduce speed. Runner Yoann is preparing for an autumn marathon and is impressed by a stratospheric performance. Sabastian Sawé completed the marathon distance in less time than Yoann's semi-marathon time from two years prior.
