Sébastien Saoué Breaks Two-Hour Marathon Barrier
An Ethiopian athlete has established a new world record in running. He pulled ahead of Ethiopian runner Jomov Kacelsa shortly before the finish line. Athlete Sebastian Sarway has completed a marathon in under two hours. The achievement occurred on a course described as not being one of the quickest compared to Berlin or Chicago. The second-place finisher also recorded a time near the two-hour mark. Ethiopia's Tix to Asifah also broke the women's world record during the same event. The achievement was described as unexpected due to the controlled environment and weather variables. The achievement follows historical context where Eliud Kipchoge broke the two-hour barrier in a non-official, sponsored event in Vienna in 2016. The course was described as having official paces and no other competitors on the track to ensure perfect conditions.
