Alcohol And Exercise Increase Body Inflammation
Research presented at the American Physiology Summit indicates that both alcohol consumption and exercise increase bodily inflammation. Chemicals found in darker alcoholic drinks, such as whiskey, tequila, and red wine, are specifically linked to higher inflammation levels. Excessive inflammation can lead to heat exhaustion or more severe health complications. Alcohol may also irritate the gastrointestinal tract, potentially allowing bacteria to leak into the circulatory system and trigger further inflammatory responses. The study observed participants who consumed heavy amounts of alcohol prior to physical workouts.
