China Sets 2030 Target For Community Elderly Care Coverage

New demographic data indicates that 16 percent of the Chinese population is now aged 65 or older. Forest coverage in northern China has increased from approximately 5% in 1978 to 14% in 2023. The expansion follows a shift in strategy to combat desertification and sand advancement. Financial stability has been cited as a key factor in maintaining these long-term reforestation projects. The initiative aims to mitigate the continuous threat of encroaching sands in the region. The People's Bank of China has completed 100 days of implementing a 1 trillion yuan re-lending tool for private enterprises. This tool utilizes an ultra-low interest rate of 1.25% to provide low-cost capital to the private sector. The initiative aims to support the real economy and assist private firms with financial relief and upgrades. The funding is intended to flow continuously into physical economic sectors to mitigate financial risks. China's elderly care industry has reached 722,000 employees, according to a report from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. China aims for community-based elderly care facilities to cover at least 70% of the population by 2030. China's Ministry of Civil Affairs and ten other departments issued opinions to promote mutual aid elderly care services.
