China Encourages Universities To Develop Interdisciplinary Majors
Cheng Shuang, deputy director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, stated that the province is encouraging universities to proactively enter emerging interdisciplinary fields. The move aims to support new technologies and industries that cannot be sustained by single disciplines alone. Supported sectors include bio-manufacturing, optoelectronic information materials, low-altitude economy, and quantum technology. The province intends to help universities break disciplinary boundaries to cultivate new composite professional programs.
