Lithium Processing Facility Planned For Kausdienen
A mining project in western Finland has secured financing following the entry of a South African mining company. Jokowski is noted as one of the few opponents of the development. Residents report that mining activities extract water from a nearby river, which already experiences low levels during the summer. There are fears that the river may eventually dry out completely due to these extraction processes. The facility is expected to contribute to Europe's long-term raw material supply. Finland has commenced the extraction of lithium, according to reporter Christian Bläncker. Project lead Kalibir stated that the development requires diverse skilled personnel and capital. The project's financing was previously uncertain until a South African mining company entered the venture. Plans include not only mining the lithium but also refining it into lithium hydroxide on-site.
