COVID-19 Research Focuses on Retro-Viral Protease
Researchers are investigating a retro-viral protease, which plays a critical role in the replication of coronaviruses. Protein denaturation, such as when cooking an egg, causes proteins to lose their natural structure. This process can be triggered by high temperatures, alkalis, acids, alcohol, acetone, heavy metal salts, alkaloids, and detergents. Temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius pose a danger not only to bacteria but also to human proteins.
