Researchers Produce Alcohol From Radioactive Crops

SRF 4 News Kyiv 16d Impact 5
Researchers in Ukraine have developed a method to produce apple brandy from crops that exceed radiation limits. Sunflowers, wheat, rye, and barley were found to absorb excessive radioactivity. The distillation process effectively removes the radioactivity from the final alcohol product. In one instance, a local distillery used apples collected from a second exclusion zone to create schnapps.
