Zelensky Warns of Russian Hybrid Warfare
Russia, through its nuclear agency Rosatom, is continuing efforts related to Chernobyl's nuclear safety. Following the 1986 disaster, the entire safety system was re-evaluated. Rosatom's head stated that a similar accident is now excluded due to enhanced protection measures. On the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of nuclear terrorism by Russia. He stated on Telegram that Russia must be compelled to cease its attacks and abandon its occupation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. He argued that the only way to end such threats is to force Russia to stop its actions. These warnings come on the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident. Ukrainian discussions said the necessity of destroying Russian export capacities, specifically targeting oil and gas terminals in the Baltic and Black Seas.
