Han Dynasty Artifacts Uncovered In Uzbekistan

A joint archaeological team from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences has discovered artifacts in the Fergana Basin. Excavations at the Mengzha Tie site yielded Han-style bronze coins, silk fragments, and ancient pottery. These findings provide evidence of long-distance trade and cultural exchange along the Silk Road. Researchers believe the site relates to the history of the Dayuan kingdom. The project aims to use modern technology to further explore the historical landscape of the region. Recovered items include five Han dynasty coins, silk fragments, and Han-style bronze mirrors at the Mongzhaite site. The systematic excavation project has been ongoing since 2018. No previous records of these specific finds existed in local archaeological logs.
