New Immunotherapy Injection Treats 14 Cancer Types

France Bleu Paris Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois 12d8d Impact 8

Researchers in Val-de-Marne have tested a new method of administering immunotherapy directly into tumors rather than through veins. The study involved 60 patients suffering from skin cancer with metastases. One group received classic intravenous immunotherapy while the other received the direct intratumoral treatment. The goal of this method is to target cancer cells more precisely and limit side effects. This represents the first time this specific administration method has been tested in this clinical context. The study was conducted in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois. Clinical test results published in the journal Nature indicate that intratumoral immunotherapy may increase treatment efficacy by injecting medication locally. The study suggests the method results in three times fewer serious side effects compared to standard treatments.

The study suggests the method results in three times fewer serious side effects compared to standard treatments. Researchers noted that toxicity was almost absent in the tested applications. The findings were published yesterday evening in Nature. The treatment is designed to replace long periods of intravenous drips used for specific drug delivery. One recipient, 89-year-old Shirley Zerk, described the administration process as very good.
