Village Of Dalton Forms Historic Preservation Commission
The Village of Dalton formed a preservation commission, which met and received evidence regarding a residence. Bert Olderson, the village attorney, stated the commission made a recommendation to the village board concerning the listing of the residence. This initiative is connected to Dalton being the hometown of Pope Leo XIV, who is referred to as the 'first American pope.' A 'Pope Leo, the 14th Village of Dalton Foundation' has also been established as a 501c3 tax-free entity.
