US Invests $1.5T In Defense Industrial Base
Representative Donald Norcross, a Democrat from New Jersey, addressed defense acquisition programs and wage increases for war fighters. He noted that wages for war fighters increased by up to 7 percent this year. Norcross argued that supporting the defense industrial base is necessary for war fighters to perform their duties. He stated there is no evidence that collective bargaining agreements have caused problems within the Department of Defense. Officials stated the investment aims to ensure major companies can produce 2X to 4X the current capacity of systems like Patriots, Thads, and SM3s. The move is intended to address decades of falling behind in manufacturing speed. Officials on Capitol Hill assured there are no current shortfalls in the ability to execute global missions.
