UN Refugee Agency Cuts 5,000 Jobs Amid Funding Shortfall
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has cut 5,000 jobs globally due to a funding shortfall. At its Geneva headquarters, one-third of the staff will be eliminated. This comes as the need for UN aid increases due to conflicts in Iran, Lebanon, and Sudan. A family in Switzerland noted they must now contribute more money to the UN than before.
