Nebraska Enacts Medicaid Work Requirements
Nebraska will begin requiring many Medicaid applicants to prove they are working, volunteering, or attending school starting Friday. State officials stated they are prepared, utilizing letters, emails, and text messages to notify impacted residents. The state has published a list of thousands of qualifying health conditions for exemptions. The move follows long-standing preferences for work requirements among conservatives. The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported public debt reached $31.27 trillion with GDP estimated at $31.22 trillion for the 12-month period ending in March. The requirement follows a Republican-led bill passed in Congress last summer. Beneficiaries up to age 64 must regularly provide proof of employment. The policy aims to address issues regarding applicants applying from outside the country.
