Guantanamo Bay Holds 15 Prisoners
A total of 15 prisoners remain held at Guantanamo Bay out of approximately 780 individuals detained there since 2002. Three of these 15 prisoners may be eligible for deportation to other countries under specific conditions. The current Trump administration is reportedly using the facility for deportations. Journalists have faced restrictions on accessing certain areas of the base, being limited to speaking only with a press spokesperson. Seven men are currently awaiting trial, while the United States maintains that others pose too high a risk to be released. Approximately 15 prisoners remain at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility out of an original population of about 780. Observers were unable to inspect the specific conditions under which these prisoners are being held.
