Community Group Appeals Maryland School Relocation
The Community and Education Policy Alliances filed an appeal with the Maryland Board regarding the relocation of Wooten from Rockville to the Crown campus in Gaithersburg. The group alleges Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) skipped required legal steps in school closure rules and failed to secure approval to repurpose the Crown high school facility. MCPS stated that renovating the current Wooten campus would be too costly. The appeal is currently pending before the state board.
