Romania Proposes Law To Limit Public Detachments
Romanian official Nicușor Dan announced the promulgation of a new law aimed at preventing and combating femicide. Despite political disputes, legislative projects are reportedly supported by all parliamentary groups. The legislation will now be sent to Parliament for further processing. The Romanian leu continued to depreciate slightly against major currencies. The National Bank of Romania announced an exchange rate of 5.14 lei to one euro. The Romanian government adopted a draft law yesterday that prohibits the accumulation of pensions and salaries within the public sector. The measure applies specifically to service and military pensions rather than contributory ones. Affected individuals include former police officers, military personnel, gendarmes, and former employees of Parliament or the Court of Accounts.
