Thailand Implements New Educational Spending Measures
The Thai Finance Ministry has ordered all government agencies to submit budget revisions by May 15. The cuts include a 10% reduction on services, supplies, and assets, alongside a 20% budget cut for statutory boards and companies limited by guarantees. The ministry stated these reductions will not compromise public services or economic stability. This follows a lowered GDP growth forecast of 1.6% and an increased inflation estimate of 1% to 3% for the year. The country remains vulnerable to global energy price swings as a net oil importer. The Ministry of Education in Thailand has announced additional key measures to ensure educational operations are effective. These measures include guidelines for educational institutions to manage non-essential expenditures.
