Vietnam Plans Healthcare Cost Reductions And Upgrades
The Vietnamese government has authorized a review and amendment of certain regulations. Officials aim to complete discussions on the law within 2026. The review process will involve four levels of organization, including commune, province, military region, and ministry. The goal is to identify implementation realities, weaknesses, and existing bottlenecks. Vietnam aims to reduce patient costs by upgrading grassroots healthcare and family doctor services. The plan includes implementing basic service packages that link different hospital levels. Authorities intend to expand universal health insurance benefits while controlling hospital autonomy. The strategy also focuses on transparent pricing, procurement, and preventing interest group benefits in medical supplies and vaccines.
