Russian Envoy Warns Of NATO Isolation Of Kaliningrad

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stated that Western countries are currently practicing scenarios for a naval blockade of Kaliningrad. Russian officials claim Western politicians and military leaders have been discussing NATO expansion in the Baltic since 2022. The Kremlin suggests accusations of a Russian attack on the Baltic states are used as a distraction. This follows ongoing geopolitical tensions regarding NATO's presence in the Baltic Sea. Moscow asserts that regional conflict would only occur if the West initiates a direct blockade of the Kaliningrad region. German government sources allege that phishing campaigns targeting the Signal messaging service are being directed by Russia. The attacks reportedly targeted high-ranking officials including Bundestag President Klöckner, Education Minister Prin, and Minister Huberts. Authorities stated the data leak has been stopped. Russian ambassador-at-large Artem Bulatov stated that NATO countries are practicing scenarios to isolate the Kaliningrad region during military exercises. Bulatov said NATO and EU entities have increased efforts to control logistics routes in the Baltic region since the start of the special operation. These steps aim to restrict transport communications with Kaliningrad to create conditions for isolation if tensions escalate.
