Rome Approves Beach Smoking Ban

A new resolution presented by the Five Star Movement in the Giulio Cesare hall in Rome imposes strict smoking regulations on several coastal beaches. The guidelines target Ostia, Castel Porziano, and Capocotta. The text, which covers all types of cigarettes including traditional ones, received agreement from both the majority and the opposition. The measure is intended to take effect for the summer season. A report mentioned in the broadcast states that 40% of waste found in the sea consists of cigarette butts. The Rome City Council has approved a regulation proposed by the Five Star Movement to prohibit smoking on beaches. Smoking will only be permitted in specific designated areas.
