German Intelligence Opposes Chinese Takeover Of ZIPL
The German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has expressed opposition to an investment by Costco. Stumbaum noted that Chinese companies are subject to Civil-Military Fusion laws that require cooperation with the Chinese government during crises. The German intelligence agency has expressed opposition to Costco's acquisition of Zippel. Intelligence officials cited concerns regarding cumulative acquisition efforts by Chinese state-owned enterprises within Germany and the European Union. The agency noted that such acquisitions involve the purchase of companies and corporate shares, including those located abroad. Political scientist Stummbaum was also mentioned in relation to these concerns. The Chinese state-owned enterprise KOSCO intends to acquire an 80% stake in Zipfel.
