Court Orders Temporary Arrest in Fatal Accident

A 57-year-old man has been placed in temporary arrest by the Dąbrowa Górnicza District Court following a fatal accident that killed Left Party politician Łukasz Litewka. Prosecutor Bartosz Kilian argued for total isolation to ensure a reliable investigation, while the prosecution noted the suspect's bail conditions would include police supervision and a ban on leaving the country if released. The Sosnowiecka prosecutor's office maintains that the suspect remains a risk to the investigation. The District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec is appealing for witnesses to come forward as no one has contacted authorities yet. The suspect is currently reviewing case materials with a defense attorney. A 57-year-old driver was arrested by a district court in Dąbrowa Górnicza on Saturday for causing a fatal accident. The incident occurred on Thursday when a Member of Parliament was struck and killed by a car while riding a bicycle. The suspect is eligible for release within two weeks if he pays a bail of 40,000 PLN. Prosecutors have indicated they may appeal this part of the court's decision. Strong winds in the region have also prompted police to suggest local road detours.
