France Plans To Eliminate Fossil Fuels By 2050
The French government is planning to phase out reliance on Microsoft software within its public administration by approximately 2030. Officials are replacing Windows operating systems with open-source alternatives and domestic tools for communication and office tasks. On April 23, the French Health Data Center announced the end of its partnership with Microsoft. Core medical and health data is being transferred to locally hosted cloud services to mitigate security risks. Mid-level government offices are gradually abandoning the Windows operating system in favor of open-source alternatives. Public officials are also replacing Microsoft office and communication software with locally developed French tools. This shift is part of a broader European trend toward technological sovereignty.
