United States and Iranian representatives may hold meetings as early as next week to discuss diplomatic relations. Pakistan's Prime Minister Kamran Abbasi held a phone call with the Iranian President to emphasize Pakistan's commitment to regional peace and security. Donald Trump emphasized that the cancellation of the diplomatic trip does not signify a resumption of military operations against Iran. US Special Envoy Steve Woodcock's planned trip to Islamabad was cancelled by President Trump following the departure of the Iranian foreign minister from Pakistan. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araj is expected to return to Pakistan tomorrow following the cancellation of peace talks. Iranian official Araghchi stated that Washington's sincerity regarding diplomatic efforts remains unclear following the cancellation. US President Trump stated that Tehran had submitted an improved proposal.
