Wagner Mercenaries Withdraw From Northern Mali City
Mali's ruler appeared in public for the first time since insurgents attempted to seize power. The appearance comes as the government faces challenges in defeating insurgents despite seeking extra help for military rulers. The president's speech will be broadcast on national television this evening. Authorities stated that the enemy's plan was thwarted due to the composure of engaged forces and a coherent chain of command. A number of assailants were neutralized during the incident. Colonel Goita's office released photos of the leader and he issued a call for public confidence in security forces fighting rebels. The release also included images of Goita visiting hospital victims from recent weekend attacks. Militants attempted to seize key locations in the capital, including the presidential palace. The ministry of foreign affairs is tasked with repairing relations with Gulf states.
