China Urges Reversal of UNIFIL Departure From Lebanon
China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Song, called for all parties to seize peace windows and maintain maximum restraint regarding the Israel-Palestine situation. The Chinese mission also hosted a launch ceremony for the Global Governance Initiative working group at the UN headquarters. This follows a World Bank report on April 28 projecting commodity market shifts despite potential supply disruptions in the Middle East. China has called for the reversal of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon's (UNIFIL) departure from the country. This plea comes as conflict between Israel and Hezbollah intensifies. China has urged the UN Security Council to send a strong signal regarding the protection of Lebanon's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
