Tennessee Man Wins Settlement Over Trump Meme Jailing
A Tennessee man who was jailed for 37 days for posting a meme critical of Donald Trump has won an $835,000 settlement. The settlement resolves a lawsuit filed by the man against the state. The settlement follows a First Amendment lawsuit filed on his behalf. Larry Bushart will receive $8 million from a Tennessee county after spending 37 days in jail for posting memes critical of Trump and Charlie Kirk. His arrest occurred after Kirk's death and was part of a wave of censorship.
