White House Urges Immediate DHS Funding
Senate Republicans have successfully blocked a Democratic attempt to limit presidential war powers. House Republicans are reportedly refusing to bring a bipartisan bill to the floor that would fully fund the United States Secret Service. Democrats argue that this vehicle exists to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security, excluding ICE and the 'violent Republican mass deportation machine'. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries commented on the situation. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer stated that Republicans are blocking Department of Homeland Security funding. Schumer noted that the Senate passed the funding 33 days ago and only requires House action to pass. He claimed there is no other explanation for the current blockage. The proposal follows a recent shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
