French Civil Servants Report High Rates Of Verbal Abuse

RTBF La Premiere Paris 15d13d Impact 5
A report cited by Libé indicates that 40% of legislators have reported an increase in the frequency of abuses, including insults and harassment. In one out of three cases, these abuses are becoming increasingly severe. The report identifies 2016, marked by a surge in far-right motivated attacks, and 2020 as two key moments for the acceleration of this violence. Marie-Lise Léon, Secretary General of the CFDT, warned of palpable daily violence within the French civil service. Approximately 35% of agents report experiencing verbal aggression. Notably, one in two teachers considers themselves exposed to such verbal attacks.
