Russia Proposes Mandatory Mushroom Collection Permits
A new bill has been introduced to the State Duma to implement mandatory pet marking and registration. The Russian State Duma approved a 90-day extension of the national state of war and military mobilization on April 28. A new federal law regarding the humane treatment of animals is moving through the Russian Duma. Protesters gathered at the presidential administration building in Moscow to demand the halt of the legislation. The second reading of the bill is scheduled for the end of May. If passed, the law is expected to take effect on July 1, 2026. One protester stated that because animals cannot defend themselves, humans must not mistreat them.
