Russian Experts Call For Stricter Medical Assault Laws
Experts are calling for changes to the Russian criminal code regarding attacks on medical workers. Current laws only allow for more serious charges if the assault prevents the medic from providing patient care. A 2016 Ministry of Health proposal sought to make attacks on medical staff an aggravating circumstance. While some view potential 10-year prison sentences as harsh, most doctors support stricter sanctions.
