Former Director Five Years For ISIS Negotiations
Eight former executives, including CEO Bruno Lafon, have appealed their convictions for terrorism financing. The group paid approximately 5.6 million euros to jihadist groups to maintain cement plant operations during the war in Syria in 2013 and 2014. Former Lafarge executive Bruno Lafon and seven other defendants have filed appeals against their convictions for financing terrorism in Syria. The appeal follows the initial sentencing of the group. The case involves a cement company in France. The appeal follows previous rulings regarding the funding of activities in Syria. A court has imposed strict sanctions on Bruno Lefon, who served as a chief executive between 2007 and 2015. Judges criticized Lefon for what they described as bad faith and cowardice regarding his alleged funding of jihadist groups. He was immediately transferred to Le Santis prison in Paris.
