Austrian Minister Denies Need For Strategic Food Reserves

Agriculture Minister Norbert Dotschnik stated that Austria possesses sufficient food and agricultural production to maintain adequate stocks. He noted that strategic stockpiling is not necessary according to a recent study. The National Council passed an amendment to the Food Management Act in February, which allows for strategic stockpiling in principle. The study also projected a need for more than 25,000 qualified workers by 2030.
