Singapore Corruption Cases Reach Record Low
A public survey found 98% of respondents rated the corruption situation in Singapore as good or better. The construction, manufacturing, transport, and storage sectors were identified as the most affected over the past decade. Cases that did not result in convictions were due to being withdrawn before any court decision was made. Data from the past decade shows that approximately 9 in 10 individuals charged with corruption were convicted last year. The figure represents a decline in corruption incidents within the city-state. Only one of these cases involved the public sector, while 22 cases involved public servants rejecting bribes. The CPIB stated that while the situation remains under control, vigilance is required to prevent corruption from taking root. The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) reported 160 corruption cases for the year, down from 170 cases in 2024.
