Ladakh Creates Five New Districts
The new districts include Leh, Kargil, Nubra Sham, and Chakhthan. This administrative change follows long-standing local demands for better governance in the territory. The move is intended to strengthen ground-level administration in the region. Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vishnu Kumar Saxena approved a notification for the development of five new districts in the Union Territory. The decision comes amid ongoing security challenges in the region. The new administrative structure brings the total number of districts in the territory to seven. Prime Minister Singh stated during a meeting that he would highlight India's commitment to global peace and its zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and extremism.
