Domestic Workers Protection Law Enacted
A campaign is underway to establish a standalone offense for assaulting shop workers, similar to protections for emergency service members. LBC London reports that an assault on a shop worker is currently considered a common assault, but advocates argue it should be a distinct offense. Evidence has been presented to Parliament multiple times on this issue. The work of domestic workers often begins before sunrise to prepare breakfast and assist children before the family starts their day. The work is continuous and flows throughout the day.

“Yeah, absolutely. If you attack a shop worker, it's an offence full stop. It's not a common assault, it's an offence. Now, we campaigned, I've given evidence to Parliament four, five times on this. And there's a couple of points to this. Number one, the message it sends to those who would attack my call.”

“this new enactment of the domestic, the protection of the domestic workers. Usually my days start when the house is still quiet. Usually sometimes we wake up before sunrise, especially when our employer is still sleeping.”
