Trump stated that both Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky agree to the ceasefire and admitted the pause could extend for weeks. Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov announced that Russia and Ukraine confirmed their readiness to comply with the conditions of an agreement proposed by the US President. This development followed a recent phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, with negotiations conducted indirectly through Washington and Kyiv.
