Two Frontrunners Lead D.C. Mayoral Race
Councilmember Brooke Pinto has amassed nearly double the campaign cash of her closest opponent in the District of Columbia at-large council race. She has secured endorsements from business leaders and elected officials. Pinto has drawn frequent press attention for her work on public safety issues. She stated she is best positioned to fight for the District of Columbia and its autonomy. Two candidates are leading the Washington D.C. mayoral race in terms of fundraising and name recognition. Ward 4 Councilmember Janice Lewis George and former at-large Councilmember Kenyon McDuffie are identified as the frontrunners. The Democratic primary includes seven candidates. Lewis George stated during a debate last week that she would explore opening a city-run grocery store in Ward 7.
