Spanish Falangists Gained Support Despite Persecution
In March 1936, the Spanish Popular Front government ordered the closure of all Falange party branches nationwide. Falangists faced persecution and arrests, forcing their leadership underground. Despite these repressive measures, the Falange, previously a small group, experienced rapid growth. The organization's image as a persecuted entity aided its expansion, attracting young people, including workers, who were drawn to its call for the revival of Spanish national greatness.
