Paris Demonstration Banned By Police, Court Confirms

French justice confirmed the ban on a far-right demonstration scheduled for tomorrow in Paris. Judges have confirmed multiple clashes between anti-fascist militants and far-right groups in recent months. Due to the high risk of violent altercation, a planned demonstration and a counter-demonstration in Paris have both been banned. A counter-manifestation was also planned and prohibited. The Administrative Court of Paris confirmed on Friday the ban on both far-right and anti-fascist demonstrations scheduled for Saturday in the capital. This judicial decision upheld the Paris police prefecture's assessment that violent actions were likely to occur during these events. The Paris administrative court confirmed interdictions for a planned demonstration, 'pas de nazis dans Paris,' and a counter-demonstration by the 'comité du 9 mai.' The police prefect warned of potential violent clashes between the two groups. The 'comité du 9 mai' has appealed the ban to the Conseil d'État and proposed a static gathering at Place des Pyramides for later today. The Conseil d'État typically takes three weeks to render a decision in such procedures.
