Japan Sees Protests Amid Shift From Pacifist Past
Japanese peace groups gathered in Tokyo to strongly oppose and express dissatisfaction with the government's recent actions. Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party is debating whether to make prior notification to parliament mandatory for exporting lethal weapons, a proposal that failed to pass. In recent times, Japan has shown small shifts in issues related to WWII history and military security. The global situation is changing, and the world shares the same heat. Recent public opinion polls show that 56.6% of respondents believe Japan should not allow the export of lethal weapons, with many within the ruling Liberal Democratic Party also expressing caution. A portion of the public, 56.6%, believes that exporting lethal weapons should not be allowed, according to a Kyodo News poll.
