Romanian President Calls For Rapid Consultations Amid Impeachment Risk

President Nicușor Dan invited leaders from pro-European political parties to discuss the national recovery and resilience program and the SAFE program. The consultations follow the resignation of PSD ministers and the submission of interim ministerial proposals by Prime Minister Iulian Ciolacu. Representatives from PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR, and national minorities are expected to participate. Consultations will take place this morning at the Cotroceni Palace between the head of state and leaders of pro-European political parties. Political parties PSD, PNL, USR, and UDMRE have expressed willingness to cooperate despite existing political misunderstandings. President Nicușordan stated that rapid consultations must be organized if a censorship motion passes in Parliament. The President noted that impeachment is a mechanism used by Parliament and the Constitutional Court to penalize a president who violates the Constitution. Maintaining stability is considered for both the Constitutional Court and financial markets, according to the President. The Romanian leu has surpassed the 5.10 threshold against the euro.
