EU Sets Goal To Lift 15 Million From Poverty

The plan seeks to significantly reduce the number of people affected by poverty or social exclusion by the year 2030. The European Commission has put forward a proposal for a European Union-wide strategy to combat poverty. The plan does not include new funding but focuses on the improved utilization of existing funds. The strategy was reported by ARD Brussels correspondent Sarah Lopez. Among children, the risk rate is higher at one in four. The plan includes addressing various sectors such as housing and jurisdictional competencies.
