Australia Detains Three ISIS-Linked Women From Syrian Camps
Australian authorities plan to arrest and charge women returning from Syria with ISIS fighters late tomorrow. The group consists of 13 individuals, including four women and nine children. Commissioner Chrissy Barrett stated that plans to manage and monitor the group have been in place since 2015. Authorities confirmed they will not provide assistance to the group during the process. The children will be required to undergo specific procedures, according to the commissioner. The government is facing pressure following the Bondi terror attack over the summer, which also had an alleged link to IS radicalization. Since the fall of the Islamic State in 2019, at least 45 fighters and 29 women and children have returned to Australia via repatriation or independent travel.
